Hit and Run Victim Dies

On Saturday August 15 a person died in what was first thought to be a hit and run.

According to police the incident happened shortly before 3 a.m.in a parking lot near Independence Avenue and Spruce Avenue.

According to witnesses, 36 year old Jesus Dominguez, who is also known as Tamara Dominguez of Kansas City Missouri, exited an SUV in the parking lot. The SUV then intentionally ran over the victim three times before heading south on Spruce Avenue. The witness described the vehicle as a dark Chevy Avalanche with tinted windows and a loud muffler.

The victim was unresponsive and was rushed to hospital with critical injuries and passed away on Monday, August 17.

The police are calling the incident an intentional hit and run and are continuing to search for the vehicle. At this stage they are not ruling out a hate crime as Tamara Dominguez is the 17th transgender woman reported murdered in the U.S. this year, and her death is the fourth in the last week.

According to police, the accident happened just after 9 p.m. on Highway 169 at Englewood Road. Jons’ey Jackson, aged 13 was trying to cross the road when he was hit by a car as he tried to dart across the highway in the dark.

Police went on to say that earlier in the day he had crossed the highway with no problems but he was hit on his return journey. He was apparently with a group of other teenagers when he was hit by a car.

The highway was fenced in the area where he crossed to try and deter people from crossing in that area.

Jons’ey’s mother, Latonya Jackson, who has four other children said that she forgave the person who hit him as it was not his fault.

Jons’ey was a talented student with aspirations to be an engineer and then an entrepreneur.
